Williams Lake’s Downtown BIA has gotten in on the Poverty Challenge this year.

Hopefully those of you living in Williams Lake are already aware of all of this year’s Poverty Challenge events happening at schools and in the community.  This year’s Poverty Challenge is a joint effort between the International Union of Operating Engineers, the Cariboo Chilcotin Teachers Association and School District No. 27.  It is hoped that thousands of dollars will be raised and many items of food donated to the Williams Lake Salvation Army Food Bank.  If you walk into any of our local Williams lake schools, you are sure to find mounds of donated food which will finds its way to the Food Bank in the coming weeks.

You can find more details about Poverty Challenge fundraisers here.

This week’s main event is the Poverty Challenge Variety Show & Silent Auction.  You won’t want to miss this.  Please invite your friends and family to buy their tickets by this Friday.

Details are as follows:

Williams Lake Ramada Convention Center
Saturday, November 23rd
7:00 PM (Doors open at 6:30pm)

Tickets $15 (must be bought in advance) and are available at both Lake City Secondary School campus offices or the School District #27 admin office.

Over $8500 value in auction items (including a trip to Las Vegas and a signed Carey Price jersey)

Proceeds go to the W.L Salvation Army Food Bank.

This is an adult (over 19) event.

Last year, the schools were able to gather one ton of food.  Through events like the variety show and auction, this total should be easily surpassed this year.
