I became the Superintendent of Schools for School District No. 27 (Cariboo-Chilcotin) in the summer of 2012. I was born and raised here and graduated from Columneetza Secondary in Williams Lake in 1987. As a summer student, I was a groundskeeper and custodian. Since my professional career began in 1995, I have been a teacher-on-call, teacher, vice-principal, principal, and district principal. Working with a fantastic team of leaders, I love serving the students, staff, and communities of our wonderful district in this role.
Married for 24 years, my wife Tracey is a Registered Nurse and a great mom. I also have four awesome children – Brooklyn (Lake City Secondary Grad 2014), Jonah (Grade 11), Sam (Grade 9), and Eli (Grade 5).
I chose to name my blog “Big Rocks First” after an illustration used by Dr. Stephen Covey. He uses this illustration to encourage others to make first things first in their lives – ensure that whomever or whatever is most important to you receives the most time and attention. It’s way of living life that I continue to work on.
